More than $0.5 Billion in Sales at Auction Houses in NY

The market continues to show a very strong performance. Together Sotheby’s ($126.8mm) and Christie’s ($388.5) sold $0.52 Billion. The first time we see this amount in a week.

Christie’s fetched the highest mark ever. Also there were a few auction records like:

  • Mark Rothko $86.8mm
  • Yves Klein $36.4mm
  • Jackson Pollock $23.0mm
  • Barnett Newman $22.5mm
  • Gerhard Richter $21.8mm
  • Alexander Calder $18.5mm

At Sotheby’s, three works hit more than $37mm

  • Roy Lichtenstein $44.9mm
  • Francis Bacon $44.9mm
  • Andy Warhol $37.0mm
