The auction went very well, with more than 80% of the lots sold. For Brazilian art it was a great night. Sergio Camargo (Homenagem a Fontana) sold for $1.5 million, twice the estimate. A small Mira Schendel also sold for twice the estimate, $0.27 million. It may be Camargo’s record in a public auction. Wifredo Lam sold for $4.4 million(double of estimate) and it was the highest price of the night. Gego was sold for more than twice the estimate at $0.6mm. Cruz-Diez and Jesus Soto sold very well at high prices. On the negative side, the most expensive lot with an estimated price of $5million, Diego Rivera did not sell. Beatriz Milhazes also did not sell. Milhazes bid was $100 thousand below the estimate.

I found this post searching for writing material for my own site GallerinaNYC. I’m still working on the SEO aspects of my site, something that you seem to have a good grasp on. This page was ranked pretty highly when I was doing my search. It would be great to get some tips on that. Drop me a message at Gondola@gallerinanyc.com if you have the time. I’d love to hear back. Cheers!
Hi Clair,
